Alec is a kind-hearted Grey Crown assassin who joined after his sister was murdered by a Scarlet Vulture double agent when she was training as an assassin. This devastated him so much that he gave up his dream to be a writer and used his hobby of archery to kill the double agent. The man training Alec’s sister found out and invited him to become an apprentice assassin.
Edmund Thorp is a stoic and quiet Grey Crown assassin. When he was young his parent were killed on a trip to the desert when they were mistaken for members of the guild. Since then, Edmund has harbored feelings of hatred and anger towards the Scarlet Vulture. He soon took his natural sword talent to the Grey Crown and begged to be trained to fight for them. An assassin that was present saw his potential and took him under his wing.
That is when he met Alec. They trained under the same man, growing close. The only time Edmund looks content is when he is close of Alec. He harbors a love for his partner that he is quite confused about, having never been in love before this.
Adela is a Grey Crown assassin. When she was a teenager she started to show signs of magical potential. After her parents pass away ,leaving her in the care of her older brother her power started to show more heavily. The caravan began to fuss over her and try to influence what magic type she should be trained in. All the time she wished they would just be quiet. She ran away from a Rover’s caravan, feeling the pull of devotion to Isata.
After training as a mage (and gaining her ritualistic scars around her mouth from sewing it shut) she met Alec while visiting Grey Tower. Initially his loud and pushy nature put her off. But as they saw each other every day and the fact he would seek her out just to sit and read with her endeared him to her and later she accepted Edmund too. She said when questioned that she does not mind the noise if its from Alec and Edmund.
